I have worked with the company for almost 9 years and I can honestly say you would have to go far to find a better bunch of people to work with. Friendly doesn't begin to describe this team and there is a great inclusive family-like feeling throughout the company. This team culture is totally supported by management, who facilitate the Wellness group, mentorship programs, discounts to local gyms, links to local events promoting mental health and wellbeing.
There is great opportunity for advancement within the company and any interest or enthusiasm for any aspect of the industry is nourished. Having been unable to accept a manager's position due to personal commitments, I was given the opportunity to become the Whiskey and Spirits Trainer within the company. My education was funded and led to me travelling to London to complete the Spirits Level 2 from the WSET and I also have achieved certificate level Brewing and Distillation from the IBD. My whiskey classes expanded to corporate events, staff group distillery tours, and will hopefully be open to the public again soon. Last year a group of us completed the management course called ‘How Restaurants Work’ which is accredited by City and Guilds. The inhouse training is fantastic too, with barista courses, wine tastings, beer courses. I was even involved in making a new beer, on the Beer Immersion Course run by Russell in the Elbow Lane Brewhouse. Happy staff, happy customers!
So far this year our Restaurant Group has spent..
on employee training & development
Total spend in 2023: €125,820
